By accessing or using Substack Insights, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our service.

Description of Service

Substack Insights is an analytics platform that helps Substack creators understand their content performance. We provide insights into post engagement, content optimization, publishing patterns, and audience behavior.

User Accounts and Access

Account Requirements

• You must have an active Substack publication to use our service
• You must provide accurate and complete information
• You are responsible for maintaining the security of your session credentials
• You must be at least 13 years old to use our service

Credentials

You provide your Substack session cookie to access your analytics. You are responsible for:

• Keeping your session cookie secure and confidential
• Any activity that occurs using your credentials
• Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized access

Subscription and Payment

Free Tier

Our free tier provides limited access to analytics, including overview statistics and top 3 posts in select categories.

Pro Subscription

• Pro subscription costs $19/month or $180/year
• Payment is processed through Stripe
• Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled
• You can cancel at any time
• Refunds are available within 14 days of purchase

Cancellation and Refunds

• You may cancel your subscription at any time
• Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period
• 14-day money-back guarantee - full refund if cancelled within 14 days
• No partial refunds for monthly subscriptions
• Refunds are processed within 5-10 business days

Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the service for any illegal purposes
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
• Share your account credentials with others
• Reverse engineer or copy our service
• Use automated tools to scrape or harvest data
• Interfere with the proper functioning of the service
• Violate any applicable laws or regulations

Data and Privacy

• We process your Substack data to provide analytics services
• Your data is processed client-side and not permanently stored
• We use read-only access to your Substack data

Intellectual Property

All content, features, and functionality of Substack Insights are owned by us and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or distribute our service without permission.

Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT:

• The service will be uninterrupted or error-free
• The results will be accurate or reliable
• Any errors will be corrected
• The service will meet your requirements

Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY.

Service Availability

We reserve the right to:

• Modify or discontinue the service at any time
• Refuse service to anyone for any reason
• Suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms
• Change pricing with 30 days notice

Third-Party Services

Our service integrates with third-party services including Substack and Stripe. Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms and policies. We are not responsible for third-party services.

Unofficial Substack API Usage & Disclaimer

Use of Substack's Internal APIs

Our browser extension uses Substack's internal (unofficial) APIs to retrieve your publication data. By using this extension, you acknowledge and agree to the following:

• Unofficial Access: Substack has not officially authorized, documented, or supported these APIs for third-party use
• No Guarantees: Substack may change, restrict, or discontinue these APIs at any time without notice
• Service Interruptions: Our service may stop working if Substack modifies their platform or APIs
• Terms Changes: Substack may update their Terms of Service in ways that affect our tool
• No Liability: We are not responsible if Substack objects to our tool or requests we cease operations

Your Responsibilities

When using Substack Insights, you agree to:

• Only analyze publications that you own and have the right to access
• Comply with Substack's Terms of Service at all times
• Not use our tool to access, scrape, or analyze other users' data without permission
• Understand that you use this tool at your own risk
• Accept that Substack may object to or prohibit the use of this tool

API Endpoints We Access

Our extension makes authenticated requests to the following Substack endpoints:

• /api/v1/archive - To retrieve your published posts
• /api/v1/publication/metadata - To verify publication information

All requests are made using YOUR authenticated session cookie, directly from your browser to Substack's servers. We never send your cookie to our servers.

Data Ownership & Privacy

You retain full ownership of your Substack content and data. We access your data solely to:

• Process analytics locally in your browser
• Display insights about YOUR OWN publication
• Help you understand your content performance

We do not claim any ownership over your Substack data. All data processing happens locally on your device unless you explicitly opt-in to cloud sync features (future).

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for:

• Service interruptions due to Substack API changes
• Any action Substack may take regarding your account
• Loss of access to analytics if Substack blocks our tool
• Any violation of Substack's Terms of Service arising from your use of our tool
• Data loss or corruption

Termination Rights

We reserve the right to:

• Discontinue the service at any time if Substack requests we do so
• Modify or remove features that rely on Substack's APIs
• Update our methods of accessing Substack data
• Cease operations if continuing violates Substack's terms

Compliance with Substack's Terms

You acknowledge that your use of Substack Insights must comply with:

• Substack's Terms of Service
• Substack's Privacy Policy
• Any acceptable use policies Substack may implement

No Endorsement

This service is not endorsed by Substack Inc. Any references to Substack, its services, or trademarks are for descriptive purposes only. Substack, the Substack logo, and related marks are trademarks of Substack Inc.

Use at Your Own Risk

By using Substack Insights, you explicitly acknowledge and accept all risks associated with using an unofficial tool that accesses Substack's internal APIs. We make no warranties about continued functionality, compatibility, or Substack's acceptance of this tool.

Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. We will notify users of significant changes via email or through the service. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

Termination

Either party may terminate this agreement at any time. Upon termination:

• Your access to the service will cease
• You will no longer be charged
• Any data you provided will be deleted according to our Privacy Policy

Governing Law

These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws, without regard to conflict of law provisions.
